Dear ACA Community,
INCLEMENT WEATHER: ACA follows Oregon City School District’s weather closure decisions. If OC has a 2 hour late start, ACA’s first classes of the day will begin at 10:30.
On Wednesday night, The Board of Trustees enjoyed a wonderful presentation by Margo Edinger showing her strategies for supporting students as they more than doubled ACA’s 5th grade science state test scores last year. Participation in testing is very important for ACA. Individual student data is valuable, but beyond that, the testing reveals how our model is working. The results help drive staffing, budgeting, and curriculum decisions. With only the occasional exception, ACA cohorts score above Oregon City district schools, which is something we can all be proud of! Our students are very well taken care of by ACA’s staff, in partnership with parents, and the data proves it!.
Thank you, Colleen Fillipello, for organizing a fun theater field trip opportunity! Advance tickets for Oregon Children’s Theater production of Percy Jackson - The Lightning Thief February 9th show are available to ACA families. Order your tickets by next Thursday! More information is available here in the newsletter.
For high school students ready to apply for financial aid, the new, simplified FAFSA application launched on December 23. Simple is good! Here is a link with more information:
There are lots of good ‘Dates to Remember’ in the sidebar. Enjoy the upcoming events, and thank you to everyone who is making them happen.
Go Eagles,
Shelly Smith
ACA Temporary Interim Executive Director
