Dear ACA Community,
The chilly mornings and bright afternoons of the past week have me looking forward to springtime at ACA! I’ve been amazed by the number of students who spend their lunch break outside, no matter the weather. Four-square, kickball, tetherball and Ga-Ga ball are usually hopping, rain or shine! I really enjoy seeing the easy acceptance of all ages and skill levels into the games.
Announcing something new at ACA: Homeschooling Dads Group Facilitated by longtime homeschool dad and ACA teacher, David Toth, this group aims to create a community among homeschooling dads. The group will meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 11am - 12pm in Room 105 with childcare provided by ACA high school students. The first meeting will be on Tuesday, February 11th.
Speaking of our Mr. Toth, he has created a 5th grade math challenge! Please check out the flyer below for more information. It’s going to be really fun!
Our BizTown class enrollment is a bit down this year, so we have a unique opportunity for some of our students who have previously completed the BizTown class to attend the in-person event again this year. The simulation will be held in SE Portland on April 18 (10am - 2pm), and there is space for up to 11 students to join us. In order to get ready for this experience, Alumni Club students will need to attend a 4-week club on either Tuesdays at 11am or Thursdays at 12:30pm, with the first meeting on March 18 or 20 and three additional meetings following spring break. There is a $20 fee per student to participate. Please sign up in the office.
Watch for the annual table of free stuff from the Curriculum Room February 3 - February 13. Time to do a little early Spring Cleaning of books, materials, games etc. Bring a bag and carry away anything you can use.
Gentle Rule Reminder: It’s that time of year where we need a reminder to be on time to classes. Please be prepared and in your class at the published start time. Being late can be disruptive to your teachers and fellow students. We can do this!
And from our wonderful PTO:
PTO MEETING 2/4 @ 3:30 in the cafeteria. Stop by and hear about what we have planned for the next few months!
Please consider being a PTO Officer next year!
Openings and a short application can be viewed on our website: https://www.aca-pto.com/get-involved
Signup to be a pizza volunteer, who always make Thursdays a highlight for our students. Thank you! Pizza orders can be placed using the QR code, on our website, OR in person at the PTO desk.

I will be out of town next week so you won’t hear from me through ParentSquare on February 7th.
Remember to check the calendar on our website often, AllianceCharterAcademy.org and don’t forget to log your Volunteer hours here Volunteer Time Log.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you for being part of the ACA family!
