Dear ACA Community,
According to the calendar, we only have eight days of school remaining this year…single digit number everyone!! It’s a very busy season of schedule building, final projects, celebrations, and events.
By now you have probably heard that free to all breakfast and lunch will be served at ACA next school year! Sometimes you have to be persistent to be heard and in this case, persistence paid off! We appreciate the time OCSD personnel put in to include ACA in the Federal Meals grant application. Logistics will be worked out over the summer, and fingers crossed, we’ll be ready to roll on the first day of school!
In looking forward to fall, the Garden Collective invites everyone to a Pumpkin Planting Party on Monday, June 9th at 10:00am. Show up with whatever you can bring…pumpkin or gourd starts, gloves, trowels, cardboard or plastic sheeting, compost and organic fertilizer. Won’t it be fun to return to school in September to the beginnings of our own pumpkin patch?
Tonight and tomorrow night our talented musicians will be showing off their skills for parents, guests, and each other. If you are an ACA music supporter, there are still a few easy tasks that we could use help with. Spring Music Volunteer List ACA productions are next-level because so many pitch in to help. Thank you to the Bowers and Irvine families for staying late last night to transform the stage with an abundance of spring decor!
Student Government has planned a week of themes starting Monday:
Monday - Pajama Day
Tuesday - Crazy Hair/Hat Day
Wednesday - Decade Day
Thursday - Tye Dye/Neon Day
Anyone willing to help inventory ACA’s curriculum assets? If you have any amount of time between June 2nd and 12th, morning or afternoon, please contact Mrs. Downing at KarenDowning@aca.k12.or.us Any amount of help would be appreciated and training will be provided.
Our own Mrs. Calhoun is a member of the Oregon City Schools Foundation and she is recruiting volunteers available May 24 at 8:00am to help out at the Oregon Trail Game 5K race. This is a fundraising event that supports all schools in the district, including ACA. Helpers get a t-shirt! Here is the LINK to sign up to help and click HERE to learn more about the Foundation and events.
ACA students grades 9-12 are invited to apply to join the Oregon City Youth Advisory Commission which was created to provide local high school students a voice in their municipal government. The group leader, Hannah Schmidt, specifically asked for applications from ACA students who would represent the charter school perspective. LINK
The Youth Advisory Commission is an opportunity for students to...
Build leadership skills
Learn the roles and responsibilities of being a committee member under Roberts Rules of Law
Build an understanding of the functions of the City of Oregon City
Serve as youth advocates and discuss issues of concern within their community
Provide input to the City of Oregon City and the City Commission on policies, practices, and projects that affect students
Identify, plan, and execute projects and events for the benefit of youth within the Oregon City community
This is the final week for the Spring Survey and participation is low…please help…we need your input!
