Dear ACA Community,
As we enter the season of giving, please lean into ACA with the gift of your time. A recent study conducted by the Oregon Coalition of Community Charter Schools revealed that in 2023, charter schools within districts received only 48% of the per-student funding that district-run schools in the same district received. This translates to approximately $6,000 less per student! View the study HERE. Our incredible staff works very hard to deliver a personalized education to each of our kids with less pay and resources. One of the ways we try to bridge this gap within our community is by asking for donations of your time. We are asking for one hour of volunteer time per month, per child in your family. Students are encouraged to volunteer as well!
Please take a look at the links below and find a task that you, or your student, is willing to help with. Then be sure to log your volunteer hours on this form Volunteer Time Log (include all hours since July 1, 2024). ACA will be applying for $450,000 in grants for the next biennium and proving Community Engagement is part of the process. So let’s log those hours!
Our most pressing volunteer need at this time is for the Holiday Bazaar coming up on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14. Mrs. Johnson and the PTO organize a super fun and festive event and it takes lots of friendly helpers to pull it off. There’s been great past feedback from vendors about our polite and helpful students so their help is absolutely welcome! We all benefit from the funds raised at the Holiday Bazaar!

Please help us reach our goal of $600 during this fall drive! Thank you for taking our blue bags home and returning them to a BottleDrop location. Out of our bags? There is also an option to donate from your personal account.

When we return from Thanksgiving Break, all unclaimed Lost & Found items will be on a table in the cafeteria and will be ‘Free’ to the ACA community. Any unwanted items will then be donated during Winter Break.
Gentle Rule Reminder: For our 4th and 5th grades students, we will be conducting occasional spot checks to make sure that a parent, guardian, or responsible adult is on campus, and that the student knows where to find their adult when needed. Please let your 4th and 5th graders know where you are while they are in class. We take safety very seriously!
As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to each of you. This community of families and staff is very special. I am grateful for the commitment and passion you all bring to ACA. It is the collaboration, the shared experiences, and the joy of learning that makes this place so special. Together, we have built a place of support, encouragement, and growth unlike any other!
